"The Waldbühne Open Air Stage is one of the structures built by Werner March in 1934-1936 as part of the Olympic Complex.

The stage is designed in the style of a Greek amphitheater and lies 30 meters deep in the so-called Murellen Gorge.
Two walkways separate a total of 88 spectator rows into three levels and offer seats for a total of 20,000 guests.

The trapezoid stage is covered by a unique tent structure built in 1982 and revised in 2003,
while immediately behind the stage one finds the natural backdrop of the steep rock slope of the Murellen Mountain.

The backdrop offers an ideal stage setting as well as an excellent optical and acoustic border.
In 1936, the "Friedrich Eckart Stage" was opened here with the "Frankenberger Würfelspiel".

It was designed mainly as a stage for light operas and "Singspiele".
After the Second World War and up until 1960, the area was used primarily for boxing events.

In 1961, the stage area, which was badly damaged in World War II, was finally repaired.
In 1969, several years after damages caused by a raucous Rolling Stones concert, the stage was once again renovated.

Since then, the Waldbühne has become one of the most popular open air stages in Europe.

Aside from rock concerts with the likes of Sting and Robbie Williams,
there are also countless film presentations and classical music concerts in the warm summer months,
the most popular of which is the annual end-of-the-season concert of the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra."

The Stadium is in fact called the 'Forest Theater' .
