About the author :

James Henke joined the staff of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum in 1994
after an 18-year career as a nationally award-winning music writer and historian.

He brings to the position an extraordinary knowledge of rock history and experience
working directly with artists and music industry professionals.

As the curator of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum

Henke began his career in 1976 as a copy editor for Rolling Stone in New York.
Within five years, Henke advanced to music editor, where he spent 10 years overseeing the magazine's music coverage.
He also wrote cover stories on many of the top artists in rock and roll, including :
Bruce Springsteen, Eric Clapton, Jerry Garcia, Bonnie Raitt and Paul McCartney.

Henke co-edited two major anthologies on rock and roll history, The Rolling Stone Illustrated History of Rock & Roll Third Edition
and The Rolling Stone Album Guide both published in 1992.
