Basically the I3's ( Rita Marley,Marcia Griffith,Judy Mowatt) were on for doing only 1 song and ended up doing the whole album as backing band

its the first album without Peter Tosh and Bunny Wailer

Natty Dread peaked at number 44 on Billboard's (North America) Black Albums chart, and at number 92 on the Pop Albums chart

Songwriting credit for "No Woman, No Cry" went to Vincent Ford.
Ford, better known as Tartar to his friends and neighbors, had been a kind friend of Marley as a child in Trench Town, the ghetto of Kingston, Jamaica.
Bob Marley claimed he would have starved to death on several occasions as a child if not for the aid of Tartar.
