Trojan Records label history
the label was founded in 1967.
Chris Blackwell using his Island records label launched a label about the productions
of Arthur 'Duke' Reid. The name was of this label 'Trojan'
Named in recognition one of Mr Reid's seven tons 'Trojan' trucks that transported his powerful sound system around Jamaica.
Trojan label changed hands several times , mostly due to bad financial strategy choices.
In 1972 Island records pulled out it's deal with b&c and decided to promote pop and rock acts
Chris Blackwell sold his part to Lee Gopthal
